Computer Consumer ServicesHave you been treated poorly by a merchant? Received shoddy service? Want to vent and let the whole World Wide Web know about it but don’t know how?Shopping online is for the most part, safe and enjoyable. But if you have a problem with your purchase, here's where to turn for help. If your problem is with a computer company or related business you can notify us. Although we don't actively pursue consumer complaints of companies that are not professioanl members of the Computer Club we will make note of any complaint filled. If a company is no listed in our directory that may be the reason. Companies that have received complaints are re-reviewed and may be removed from our drectory. Ther next step you can take to resolve your conflict is the Better Business Bureau. The Better Business Bureau provides instant access to business and consumer alerts as well as helpful resources. Plus, you can file a complaint online. The National Consumers League, the oldest non-profit consumer organization in the United States, has set up a special National Fraud Information Center on the Internet for online users to get advice and to report rip-offs. Consumers can also call the NCL at 1-800-876-7060. Of course, the best way to deal with a problem is to prevent it in the first place. Check out the BBB's News and Alerts page and tips on cyber-shopping. Another place to check out for complaints against merchants both online and off, is the Bad, Better and Best Businesses Bulletin Board. They have been compiling a resource for consumers to find good companies to do business with, or bad businesses to avoid. This is a good place to check with your fellow shoppers before you buy from a particular merchant. Finally, there's the Consumer Information and Protection Webring. Though a little rough around the edges, the Consumer Information and Protection Webring consists of Web sites that inform, warn, and/or protect the consumer against unfair, unethical, and/or illegal business practices. The Web site could detail the abuses by one company, offer general information on how the consumer can protect himself/herself from fraud in general, and/or how to combat fraud once it has taken place. Then your time has come. A recent spate of new consumer support sites has sprung up on the Web that will handle your complaint and make sure the offending merchant is known by your fellow shoppers. Just remember - an informed shopper is a successful shopper. So do your homework on products and merchants before you buy. Make sure you visit the Computer Club Directory first!
